We had a pretty good turn out for our first game night, with nearly 3 games running simultaneously for most of the night. We played a huge number of games including, Roll For The Galaxy, Agricola, Eight Minute Empire, Cash & Guns, The Captain is Dead, and many more! Can’t wait to get together and do this again!
I personally kicked off the evening with a game of cash and guns. Isaac brought the new version and I think it’s superior to the classic. The looting phase is just so much more interesting now.
After that I did a game of Splendor. If you’ve not played Splendor you should check it out. It’s a simple, quick, and yet deeply strategic game. There’s a lot going on for a game where you have only 3 to 4 options every turn you take.
After I wrapped up Splendor, I played a game of Eight Minute Empire. This was my first time to play this game and I was really impressed by it. It’s not the simplest game out there, but it’s definitely not difficult to learn. It’s also super quick. I think our 4 player game with 3 people who had never played before took about 40 minutes. In that regard I guess the title is a bit of a misnomer but then Eight Minute Empire is catchier than Eight Minute Per Player Empire.
While we were playing Eight Minute empire there was another table playing Roll for the Galaxy. This game is a dice version of the hit game Race For The Galaxy and I’m a big fan of Race so I think it will be right up my alley. While I didn’t get to play it this time around I’m definitely looking forward to trying it at an upcoming event.
To wrap up the night I played a two and a half hour 5-player game of Agricola. Agricola might be my all time favorite game which is why I’ve got the custom meeple set that I forked out way too much money for. There is a reason that this game has been in the top 10 games on BGG since it came out. It is my quintessential worker placement game.
